What is the First-Time Home Buyers Program?
Eligible first-time home buyers in British Columbia may receive an exemption of up to $8,000 on the Property Transfer Tax. Qualifying buyers receive a full exemption on Provincial Property Transfer Taxes for the purchase of homes with a value of $835,000 or less. A partial exemption on the property transfer tax is provided for homes with a value of more than $835,000 but less than $860,000. No first-time home buyer property transfer tax exemption is available for homes over $860,000 in fair market value.

Newly Built Home Exemption
What is the Newly Built Home Exemption?
Purchasers of a newly built eligible home in British Columbia receive a full exemption on Provincial Property Transfer Taxes for homes with a value of $1,100,000 or less. A partial exemption on the property transfer tax is provided for homes with a value of more than $1,100,000 but less than $1,150,000. No newly built home property transfer tax exemption is available for homes over $1,150,000 in fair market value.
